This page explains how to submit a copyright (DMCA) takedown notice, how to send a counter-notice, our repeat infringer policy, and how we handle materials under the Indian Copyright Act, 1957 and the U.S. DMCA (17 U.S.C. §512).

Scope
This policy applies to content hosted on ossp.in. For content hosted on third-party platforms (YouTube, social sites, cloud drives), please use their respective reporting tools.

How to Send a DMCA Takedown Notice
To request removal of allegedly infringing material, send a written notice containing the following (as required by 17 U.S.C. §512(c)(3)):
- Signature: A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or authorised agent.
- Work Identified: Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed (single work or representative list).
- Location of Material: Identification of the material claimed to be infringing, with exact URL(s) on ossp.in enabling us to locate it.
- Contact Information: Your name, address, telephone number, and email address.
- Good-Faith Statement: A statement that you have a good-faith belief that use of the material is not authorised by the owner, agent, or the law.
- Accuracy & Authority Statement: A statement that the information in the notice is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on the owner’s behalf.

How to Send a Counter-Notice
If your content was removed or disabled due to a mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notification (per 17 U.S.C. §512(g)(3)) containing:
- Signature: Your physical or electronic signature.
- Material Identification: Identification of the material removed or disabled and the location (URL) where it appeared before removal.
- Under-Penalty Statement: A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification.
- Contact & Jurisdiction: Your name, address, telephone, and email, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of:
- the judicial district where your address is located; or, if outside the U.S.,
- any judicial district where the service provider may be found;
and that you will accept service of process from the person who provided the original takedown notice or their agent.

After we receive a valid counter-notice, we may restore the content in 10–14 business days unless the original complainant notifies us that they have filed a court action.
Processing & Timelines
- We aim to acknowledge valid notices within 2–3 working days and act promptly where appropriate.
- Incomplete notices may be returned for additional information.
- Where legally required, we may forward your notice (including contact details) to the affected user/uploader.
Repeat Infringer Policy
In appropriate circumstances, OSSP may suspend or terminate access for users who are repeat infringers. We also reserve the right to remove content and disable accounts at our discretion.
Fair Use / Fair Dealing
Some uses of copyrighted content may be permitted under U.S. fair use or Indian fair dealing exceptions (e.g., commentary, news reporting, scholarship, research, review, criticism). Our articles often quote small portions for identification or commentary with attribution and links. If you believe a use exceeds fair use/fair dealing, please write to us with specifics.
Misrepresentation Warning
Submitting false or bad-faith claims may lead to liability for damages, including costs and attorney’s fees, under 17 U.S.C. §512(f) and/or applicable Indian laws. Please file only if you have a good-faith belief and rights to assert.
Governing Law & Jurisdiction
This Policy is intended to help us respond under the DMCA and Indian Copyright Act, 1957. For disputes related to ossp.in, Indian law applies and courts at Chhattisgarh shall have jurisdiction, without prejudice to any mandatory rights under applicable law.
