Who We Are

Online Student Seva Portal (OSSP) is an educational information platform for students across India.

Scope

This Policy applies to personal data processed through https://ossp.in and its sub-pages. It also covers interactions you initiate with us via forms, email, our WhatsApp channel and Telegram group.

Third-party websites and platforms you access via our links are governed by their own privacy policies.


Definitions

  • “Personal Data/Personal Information”: Any data that can reasonably identify you.
  • “Processing”: Any operation performed on personal data (collection, storage, use, sharing, etc.).
  • “Controller”: The entity deciding how and why personal data is processed (OSSP).
  • “Processor”: A third party processing personal data on our behalf.

Data We Collect

We may collect the following categories:

  1. Identifiers & Contact: Name, email, phone, address, student details (optional), social handles (if shared).
  2. Usage & Technical: IP address, device info, browser type, pages viewed, referring URLs, session data, approximate location (derived from IP).
  3. Communications: Messages you send via forms, email, WhatsApp, or Telegram; support requests.
  4. Account & Preference Data: Saved bookmarks, notification preferences, subscription status, quiz/test participation data (if features are provided).
  5. Transaction Data (if applicable): Payment status, order IDs, invoice details (handled by payment processors; we do not store full card details).
  6. Cookies & Similar IDs: Cookies, local storage, pixels, analytics IDs.

How We Collect Data

  • Directly from you: When you fill forms, subscribe to updates, contact us, or join WhatsApp/Telegram.
  • Automatically: Via cookies, analytics scripts, server logs.
  • Third-party sources: Payment gateways, analytics and anti-fraud tools, marketing platforms (as permitted by law and your settings).

Why We Use Data (Purposes)

  • Provide, operate, and improve the Website, content, tools, and student services.
  • Respond to queries, provide support, and send service communications.
  • Send educational updates, job alerts, admit card/result notices, newsletters, and channel notifications (with your consent/opt-in).
  • Personalize content, measure performance, and understand audience interests.
  • Ensure security, detect/prevent fraud and abuse.
  • Comply with legal obligations, enforce terms, and protect our rights.
  • Process payments and deliver paid services (if offered).

Where GDPR applies, we rely on:

  • Consent (e.g., marketing, non-essential cookies).
  • Contract necessity (e.g., when you request services).
  • Legitimate interests (e.g., site security, analytics with safeguards).

Communications (Email, WhatsApp, Telegram, Push)

  • Email: If you subscribe or contact us, we may send service updates or newsletters. You can unsubscribe using the link in emails or by writing to us at onlinestudentseva[at]gmail.com.
  • WhatsApp channel: By joining https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029Va9SwTID8SE4YGpzZ92P, you consent to receive updates on WhatsApp. You can leave the channel anytime to opt-out.
  • Telegram: By joining https://t.me/onlinestudentsevatc, you consent to receive updates on Telegram. You can leave the group/channel anytime.
  • Push Notifications (if offered): You can disable them from your browser or device settings.

Payments

If we offer paid services or courses:

  • Payments may be processed by Razorpay or similar PCI-DSS compliant gateways.
  • We do not store full card numbers or CVV.
  • We receive limited transaction metadata (payment status, reference ID) for record-keeping.

User Accounts, Forms & UGC

  • When you create an account, submit forms, comments, or upload content, we process the data you provide for the intended purpose and to maintain platform integrity.
  • Please avoid sharing sensitive personal data unless required for a specific service.

AI-Assisted Content Notice

We may use AI/automation to draft or format certain informational content. Human editors review key outputs. AI tools do not override our privacy commitments. We do not use AI to make decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects about you without your explicit consent or a lawful basis.


Data Sharing & Recipients

We may share data with:

  • Service providers/processors: hosting, security/CDN, analytics, communications, payment, customer support.
  • Legal authorities: when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and integrity.
  • Business transfers: in case of merger, acquisition, or asset sale (with continued protections).

We do not sell your personal information.


International Transfers

Your data may be processed outside your country (including outside India/EEA). We use appropriate safeguards (e.g., contractual clauses, technical and organizational measures) to protect your data consistent with this Policy.


Data Retention

We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this Policy, and as required by law. Typical examples:

  • Account, communication & service records: while your account/subscription is active and for a reasonable period thereafter.
  • Transaction records: as required by tax and accounting laws.
  • Analytics data: per tool settings and aggregation practices.
    When data is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it.

Security

We employ reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data (HTTPS, access controls, backups, monitoring). However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Please use strong passwords and keep them confidential.


Your Rights (India – DPDP)

Subject to applicable law, you may:

  • Access your personal data.
  • Correct and update your data.
  • Delete/erase your data (subject to legal retention).
  • Withdraw consent for consent-based processing.
  • Nominate an individual to exercise rights in the event of death or incapacity, where applicable.
  • Seek grievance redressal via our Grievance Officer.

Additional Rights (GDPR)

If GDPR applies to you, you also have the rights to:

  • Restrict processing; Object to processing based on legitimate interests;
  • Data portability (receive your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format);
  • Complain to your local supervisory authority.

California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

  • Know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected;
  • Delete your personal information;
  • Correct inaccurate personal information;
  • Opt-out of sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell personal information);
  • Non-discrimination for exercising your rights.

Children’s Privacy

Our Website is intended for general audiences but not for children under 18 in India without parental consent (as per DPDP). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children without appropriate consent. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, please contact us for deletion.


Do-Not-Track

We currently do not respond to Do-Not-Track signals because there is no consistent industry standard. You can manage tracking via browser settings and our cookie preferences (if provided).

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post changes on this page with a new “Last reviewed” date. For material changes, we may provide additional notice.


Governing Law & Jurisdiction

This Policy is governed by the laws of the Republic of India. Courts at Chhattisgarh shall have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to applicable law.
